Shounen

A Japanese word translated into English which refers to manga (Japanese comic) intended for boys of younger age.

Shounen anime or manga is exemplified by intense action scenes and sometimes accompanied by a humorous plot which usually includes a male protagonist. Attractive females with unusually defined characteristics in order to depict character foils are also common in Shounen but is not obligated.
