Hellsing

Vampires in Hellsing are the most common enemies. Alucard himself is a vampire. There are different levels of vampires, ranking from master vampires to near mindless slave. They all have increased strength, speed, and senses, but also are weak to sunlight.

Making Draculas and Draculinas

Draculas and draculinas, otherwise known as male and female vampires, respectively, are created when a vampire, upon biting a victim, chooses to mix a large quantity of their blood with a human of the opposite gender. The victim must be a virgin for this process to work, otherwise the victim would become another mindless, flesh-eating ghoul. If the process is successful, the victim becomes a servant vampire, bestowing feelings which give the servant an almost unfaulting loyalty and attachment to their creator.

Servant vampires, if they regularly partake of human blood, have increased strength, speed, agility, as well as all five senses being enhanced. The only way for the servants to become true vampires is for them to drink the blood of their master, not necessarily by betrayal, it can be offered from an already open wound or spilled in the general area. If the master vampire is dead, the blood will no longer give the servant the ability to become a true vampire, and they will remain a servant perpetually. Servant vampires to do not appear to be able to take on other servants, and were they to drain blood, from any host, it would likely result in a ghoul or dead victim.

Master vampires can not be exposed to light, however, servant vampires can take in a certain degree of exposure, though it is more often that both sleep in the dark, commonly coffins, during the daylight hours. Remains of vampires and other demons must be doused in holy water to prevent regeneration or their remains(such as demonic breeds of insect and maggots) causing problems elsewhere.

Making Freak Vampires

Living Microchip
Living Microchip

Freak vampires are created with the implantation of a living microchip, which accesses the human body's natural, and repressed, demonic gene. A freak vampires abilities are, however, extremely limited by comparison to natural vampires, though what powers freaks have can be enhanced by the application of more freak chips. Freak vampires, at lower levels, have powers comparable to that of a servant vampire, including enchanced speed and strength, limited black magic(creation of hellfire and illusions), and the ability to create servant vampires.

The difference in freak vampire servants is that they more resemble rabid animals, hissing, howling, violent, lustful, and blood thirsty, traits of which the basic freak vampire only somewhat enhances. It is unknown if servants to freak vampires can even be released from their servitude, or if the intended hosts need to be virgin in the first-place. If they are able to cross the "virgin boundary" when selecting servants, it serves as a likely explanation to servant freak's feral nature.

However, the trade-off here is that, while they lack abilities on par with natural vampires, they do have advantages, in that they suffer no such weaknesses as being unable to go out in the daylight horrors, being wounded by silver(unless it's jammed into their body by bullet), or having any overt blood thirst, which, instead of increasing their vitality, just gets the one draining the blood "high." Also, upon removal of the chip, all vampiric abilities still remain.

Ghouls

Ghouls
Ghouls

Serving as a vampire's foot soldiers, ghouls are created when a vampire, freak or otherwise, mix a low quantity of their blood into a human body, during biting. It takes less than an hour or so for the process to take effect, resulting in a person with peeling flesh, empty eye sockets, and zombie-like mannerisms such as the desire for flesh. They serve only their master vampire, and can never return to being human. Hellsing often portrays the killing of people before ghoul-ism sets in as a mercy.

An alternate method to create ghouls is that, irrelevant of blood mixture or quantity, if the victim is not a virgin, then they will become a ghoul. Ghouls feeding off the flesh of humans often results in those humans becoming ghouls as well. Also, while all ghouls will instantly perish if their master vampire dies, and was of a natural breed, ghouls serving a freak vampire live on after the death of their masters.
