Fullmetal Alchemist Story (Anime)

The Story told in the Anime is drastically different from the one told in the Manga. The reason of this is that Fullmetal Alchemist is a manga serialized on a monthly magazine (Shonen Gangan) and so, the Anime developed faster thant the series. So, only the first half of the Anime is strongly based on the Manga (but still with some marked differences), while the other half was written by the Anime scripter Aikawa Sho by himself, yet still using some aspects and characteristics of the ongoing manga story.
Summary
Edward and Alphonse Elric were two siblings that lived in a small town called Rizenbul along with her mother Trisha Elric and having as Neighbours a renowed Automail Mechanic and her granddaughter. Their father, Van Hohenheim, left many years ago, in order to continue his Alchemy studies, according to him.
Yet by some unknown illness, Trisha died when the older brother was 11 years and the younger 10. The two of them, who were studying Alchemy from their father's books as a pastime, saw the possibility of retrieving her back by using a forbidden procedure called "Human Transmutation", and although forbidden, they still tried to do it.
They went to study with a Master Alchemist for half a year, and when they returned to their town, they tried their proyect. But everything went wrong. The reaction rebound of them, making Edward to lose his left leg and Alphonse his entire body. But in the middle of the reaction, Edward had the vision of a great door, and when the door opened, some strange black arms forced him in, and there, he gained a lot of knowledge. When the reaction ended, he found himself in the middle of the room, with his leg severed and only his brother's clothes but no traces of him. And where it was supposed to be his mother, there was a shapeless humanoid monster. After a moment of despair, he decided to use the knowledge adquired at the door to retrieve back Alphonse, so he offered many parts of his body to try to seal the soul of his brother into a suit of armour. When he started the reaction, his right arm was severed, but he managed to save his brother.
A state alchemist that went to Rizenbul in order to search for Hohenheim of Light found what the brothers did. Looking at their potential, he insted them to become state alchemists, in order to find a way to undo what they had made. So Edward asked his neighbours, the Rockwells, to make him two Automail Prothesis in order to move and walk normally again.
After his Therapy ended, he and his brother started a journey. First, to become a state alchemist, which will give you access to information and will let him travel at will, and then to find the Philosopher's stone, in order to recover their normal bodies.
