Summary
Bleach follows the life of Kurosaki Ichigo, a 15 year old high school student with the ability to see ghosts since "as long as he can remember". This ablity is shared by almost his entire family. A female Shinigami (japanese equivilant of the grim reaper), named Rukia Kuchiki runs into our hero one day while searching for an evil spirit (called a Hollow in the series). During an ensuing confrontation with the hollow, she is forced to transfer her Death God powers into Ichigo when she is wounded. Thus the adventures of Ichigo and Rukia begin, and together they search out Hollows and perform soul burials, cleansing the spirits and sending them to the Soul Society (known to the people on Earth as Heaven). What Ichigo does not know, though, is that the act of transfering Death God powers to another is forbidden by soul society with a punishment of death...
